Artist: Various Title: Electro Age I: The Awakening Item No.: LTX001 Release: 20 March, 2003 One-Sheet: [download PDF] Inside Liner Notes: [Click Here] This first release by Latex Records is the beginning of a compilation series created by RhythmUS Network which features electronic artists of various genres whose music relates to a spirituality theme. This project is alternative music of ritual, magic, myth, and transformation of consciousness projected from archetypal images from the subconscious discovered through the creative process and includes everything from tribal chants to EBM club hits. Electro Age showcases 16 rising goth acts that have contributed spellbinding music of ritual, magic and myth. The assorted tracks are geared at transforming and expanding consciousness and range from hypnotic chanting to infectious EBM club hits. Virtually every sub-genre of goth music is represented here in fine fashion. A few of the many standout cuts include "Nightvision," a fast-paced techno dance track from Glis, "Under the Moon," a dose of sultry darkwave by KAJ, and "The Hunter" by The Moors, a hypnotically pulsating song that weaves a mystical web of seduction. Electro Age is a solid compilation that delivers a provocative and eclectic array of music from some of today's finest darkwave artists. ~ Maxx, Dark Realms Magazine "Electro Age accomplishes goals set forth within The Awakening as it features 15 electronic artists bent toward 'alternative music of ritual, magic, myth, and transformation of consciousness...' The chants of 'Tentatio Arduo 2' (Conscientia Peccatti) tune into entrancing vibrations that connect us to the spirit world. Glis breaks the spell with a hyper-kinetic adrenaline induction into 'Nightvision'. The electro-synthpop invasion continues until The Moors bring back mersmerising chants with “The Hunter, Curnennos”. Apocrypho begins to re-invent the trance-dance mantra with “Connect”. Music For the Goddess closes the album with “Round And Round”, a flower-child revival that quickly paints imagery of campfire sing alongs, and hand-holding dance circles of smiling faces. Although available almost anywhere independent music is sold, check LatexRecords.com for complete artist information." ~ Gothic Beauty Magazine "The CD is just phenomenal. I love it and can't stop listening to it...I was so impressed by the way that every song on the compilation was unique but they really came together." ~ Jay Kantor (DJ Draven), The Last Exit "Electronic music has often and still is sometimes perceived as a cold and empty creative expression. Electro Age I: The Awakening's conceptual approach tries to demystify this myth by presenting electronic music through the lens of subconsciousness and spirituallity in the creative process. The compilation features artists and bands who are well implanted in the underground movement as well as new emerging entities, each one offering their own particular sensibility and artistic personnality creating a diverse collection of styles and genres. Highlights include New Mind, System Der Dinge, Takshaka, KAJ, and The Moors." ~ Jean-Francois Fecteau, Le Vestibule "..very diverse, and mind altering electronic sounds." ~ Tommy T, DSBP |
