What is Latex Records?

This question cannot be answered without giving some history. Latex Records, started on the Ides of March of 2001 as an independent music and merchandise retailer. This was a pre-start for an already planned record label. Initially intended to be an Indie CD-R label, once the word got out about Latex Records, music fans were already expecting something much bigger. This encouraged us to begin what became Latex Records, LLC. This independent record label not only worked with artists to get their projects to the world but also retailed CD manufacturing services at the lowest rates available. This was done in conjunction with our friend and partner Music Boot Camp. This was done to offer our independent label owners and musician friends CD manufacturing services at severely cut rates. During this time, we also were retailing printing services such as flyers, business cards, and postcards via our friends at Flyer Studios. Again, this was done to help the indie artists and labels function at lower costs! Both of these companies are still running today and I encourage you to use them and PLEASE tell them "Latex Records sent you".

Latex Records was always formed out of the intention of independent artists, musicians, and entrepreneurs working TOGETHER to help each other succeed in the industry.

This was evident in our initial logo, seen on our label's Release Page. This logo is actually a Norse bind-rune composed of the Gebo, Kenaz, and Fehu runes. Generally speaking, without getting into any depth on the subject of runes, Gebo relates to gifts and partnerships - Kenaz to creativity and personal harnessed energy - Fehu has to do with wealth, abundance, sucess, and happiness. I think the meaning of my bind-rune logo becomes obvious; in summary I'd have to say it is Success through creative collaboration and partnerships.

Who runs Latex Records?

As is evident from the Contact Page, Latex Records is Edwin "Eddie" Minzenmayer (aka TG Mondalf). However, you will note on the site and in newsletters the term "we" is most often used insted of "I". This is because I consider Latex Records to not only be myself, but a sort of Collective of artists and labels, as well as any friends and family members which may offer advice or support.

How did Latex Records get started?

Prior to Latex Records, I was running a site called RhythmUS Network. This was a personal project which had grown from what was once a personal website into an official domain out of my love of music and my personal "quest" for knowledge, as well as all the various subcultures, literature, and other influences along the way. On this site, I was writing CD Reviews, conducting Interviews, running 3 Internet radio stations, keeping current news postings, running live chats with artists such as cEvin Key and Phil Western with fans. I even had a live radio show with video at one point run by my friend DJ Pulse, the previous owner of Mediacast1 on Rant Radio and various other sites and stations. All of this was to promote independent music that I love so much!! I was even writing Book Reviews and various articles on obscure topics as I was also dabbling with mysticism, theology and occult philosophy as my own world view was growing along with my creative drive and urge to assist the success of artists. Thus, I was also discovering neo-pagan music and spirituality. While this was a strong influence, it was not to be my stopping point, but that is another story. The logo for this site was a combination of a Norse Raidho rune and the Hindu Vissudha Chakra. The rune represents rhythm and journeys and the chakra is related to communication and rhythm as well.

While running RhythmUS Network, I came up with the idea to release a short-run CDR containing music by the artists I had been promoting with the site. This grew into the CD-R Record Label idea, to be called Collective Creations, which then turned into Latex Records. However, Latex Records never released a CD-R. That project became Electro Age I.

What if I still have questions?

I've tried to approach what I thought might be the most common questions about the site and my projects as well as some that may not have been considered in as open of a way I could. However, I expect there will ALWAYS still be questions and I love answering them. Feel free to CONTACT ME anytime and I'll be happy to speak with you!
